Sewage Service

Wastewater service is provided by the City of Sherman and automatically bundled with your water service. The Post Oak Wastewater Treatment Plant at 1800 E FM 1417 processes wastewater for Sherman and Howe communities. No separate application is needed—sewage is included in the standard $50 residential installation fee that covers water, wastewater, and trash.

Garbage & Recycling

City of Sherman Solid Waste Services provides weekly curbside trash collection Monday through Friday, with your specific day determined by address. Residents receive a free 100-gallon cart that must be curbside by 7:00 AM on collection day. Trash service is required for all residences with water and is bundled into the installation fee. Free bulk waste and brush pickup occurs monthly. Note that curbside recycling is not available, but residents can drop off sorted recyclables at the East Street Collection Facility.

Residential customers need a valid driver's license or state-issued ID, plus a lease agreement or proof of property purchase. Commercial customers must also provide a Certificate of Occupancy. Have these documents ready when applying online or visiting the office.

No deposit is required for single-unit residential properties within city limits. A $50 installation fee applies for most residences, covering water, wastewater, and trash service combined. Commercial accounts, multi-unit properties, and accounts outside city limits require deposits based on meter size.

For water or wastewater line emergencies, call the 24/7 emergency line at 903-892-7258. This line operates around the clock for urgent issues like main breaks or sewage backups. For general billing questions, contact 903-892-7237 during regular business hours.
